The 2021 Virtual #Kwanzaa celebration honors the ancestral roots of African American culture through family and community activities derived from traditions and practices found throughout Africa and its diaspora. Click for more details and link to watch event each night of Kwanzaa at 6:00pm

Each day of the festival is dedicated to one of seven principles (or nguzo saba in Kiswahili):

  • Umoja — unity
  • Kujichagulia — self-determination
  • Ujima — collective work and responsibility
  • Ujamaa — cooperative economics
  • Nia — purpose
  • Kuumba — creativity
  • Imani — faith

You can access the event on the Indianapolis Kwanzaa Committee's Facebook page during each night of Kwanzaa at 6:00pm. The program is presented in partnership with the Indianapolis Kwanzaa Committee and the Black Caucus of the American Library Association. Registration is not required, and the event is free and open to the public.
